Just over $4 million in spending items are on the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting of Amarillo City Council.

All of the spending items for the meeting, which is scheduled to take place at 1:00 pm at City Hall, are listed under the consent agenda, meaning all of the $4.2 million in spending will likely be approved with a single vote.

The largest spending item on the package, item 3AA, is a $1.2 million addition to a contract with Thirkettle Corporation for metering infrastructure construction. Two other items on the agenda will cost the city over half a million dollars. Item 2O will approve further improvements to the Santa Fe Depot Pavilion project and will cost $786,426. Item 2R will approve the purchase of aggregate for sealcoating of paved streets and will cost $782,700.

The city will also be amending the city budget. A screenshot of the draft amendment is included at the end of this article.

Aside from spending and budget items, the council will consider reorganizing the Fire Marshal’s Office to include functions currently within other departments. The newly reorganized department will be renamed the City Marshal's office. A list of responsibilities which will be placed under the new department is included at the end of this article. The council will also be officially calling the May 6th city election. The deadline to file is Friday, February 17th, at 5:00 pm.

Just before the council meeting, at noon, the city is expected to conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for the controversial new City Hall project. Councilman Cole Stanley, a staunch opponent of the project, is expected to make an announcement regarding a potential run for mayor at 10:00 am.
