In response to the recent flood disaster, the City of Amarillo is inviting members of the public to join in volunteer clean up events.

The first clean up event will take place this Saturday at Medi Park, while the second event will take place the following Saturday at McDonald Lake. Both events will take place from 9:00 am to noon. According to a press release, bags, gloves, and refreshments will be provided.

In a video posted to social media, Mayor Cole Stanley stated that “the recent flooding has left McDonald Lake and Medi Park Lake overrun with trash and debris.”

“We’re taking action, and we need your help,” said Councilman Place 2 Don Tipps.

Members of the public interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up at amarilloparks.org/cleanup.
