Turnout trended downward on the second day of early voting in the runoff election.
The decrease in in-person turnout compared to the first two days of early voting in the first round was nearly 29%. The gap has increased from the drop in turnout after just the first day, which was closer to 26%. The decrease in turnout is still smaller than the historic average for city runoffs in Amarillo, which is closer to 40%.
Mail in ballots continue to be strong. with 760 ballots received so far. In total, there were 939 mail-in ballots were cast in the first round. There are still 456 mail-in ballots which have not been received.
Early voting continues through Friday, June 16th, with an additional opportunity to vote early on Tuesday, June 20th. Election day is Saturday, June 24th. Be sure to check our voter guide at AmarilloVotes.online.
