Both Potter and Randall counties posted their strongest numbers of the week on Friday as they wrapped the first week of early voting in the City of Amarillo runoff.

839 turned out in Randall County on Friday, while 407 turned out in Potter. In total, 5,633 have voted in person so far across both counties.

While Friday saw an uptick, overall in-person turnout is still down 37% compared to the first week of early voting in the first round. There has been an increase in mail-in ballots, however. When accounting for these ballots, 6,470 votes have been cast so far. This is a decrease of 33% from the first week of voting in the first round.

Turnout so far is beating the historic average for Amarillo runoff elections, which sits closer to a 40% decrease.

In Randall County, the most popular of the two early voting locations has been the Randall County Annex. Of those who have voted in person in Randall County, only about 10% voted at Comanche Trail Church of Christ.

In Potter County, turnout has been more evenly spread between their four early vote locations. The most popular location so far has been Casey Carpet One, where 33% of in-person voters in Potter have voted. The Santa Fe Building came in a close second, with 32% of votes.

Polls will be closed this weekend, as well as on Monday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. The final chance to cast an early voting ballot will be Tuesday, June 20th. Election day is Saturday, June 24th. If you have not yet voted, be sure to check our voter guide at AmarilloVotes.online.
