In response to recent disastrous flooding, several local government entities issued disaster declarations. Here is the status of those declarations as of June 23rd, 2023:

On June 20th, Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner rescinded the county’s disaster declaration. The order rescinding the declaration also ended the evacuation of the Canadian River basin.

On June 19th, when the City of Canyon’s disaster declaration was set to expire, the Canyon City Commission met to further extend their declaration until the July 17th commission meeting.

The disaster declaration issued by Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley was extended by Amarillo City Council on June 8th. The declaration is set to expire July 8th.

The disaster declaration issued by Randall County Judge Christy Dyer was extended “until rescinded” by the Randall County Commisioners’ Court on July 7th.

Many Texas Counties, including Potter and Randall, remain under a disaster declaration issued by Governor Greg Abbott.
