The Amarillo Pioneer Releases Interactive Runoff Results Maps

We are excited to release interactive maps breaking down the results of the June 24th runoff election precinct by precinct. The maps can be found at AmarilloVotes.online/maps.

Notably, while the two winners won with nearly the exact same vote totals, the maps for the Place 1 and Place 4 runoffs look quite different.

In Place 1, the only precincts won by Dean Crump were Potter County Precinct 123 and Randall County Precinct 429, both of which primarily cover the Wolflin neighborhood. Josh Craft, who won the runoff, managed to flip a number of precincts won by Crump in the first round, such as precincts 121, 325, 422, and 424 in Potter County, as well as precinct 227 in Randall County.

The Place 4 race, meanwhile, was much more complex. In the first round. In addition to Les Simpson and Claudette Smith, who each made it to the runoff, Hobert “Gunny” Brown also won several precincts. Those precincts, all of which were in Potter County, flipped to Claudette Smith. Smith also flipped several Potter County precincts originally won by Les Simpson, including 222, 323, and 326. She also managed to pick up 421, which was tied between the two runoff candidates in the first round. While Simpson managed to win the runoff election, he only managed to flip Potter County Precinct 424.

In Randall County, Smith was able to pick up precinct 111, which was a tie between Simpson and Smith in the first round. The opposite happened in 317, which was won by Smith in the first round and tied in the runoff. All other precincts in Randall were won by Simpson.

It is worth noting that the results these maps are based on are not official yet. The results are expected to be officially canvassed by Amarillo City Council during a special meeting on July 5th.
