Amarillo City Council will consider spending items including the approval of two contracts for on-call street maintenance services, a five-year contract for print services, the rental of a compactor for the city landfill, and the purchase of equipment for the new City Hall.

The largest spending item, 9G, is a set of two contracts for on-call street maintenance services set to go to Advanced Pavement Maintenance, Ltd. and LA Fuller and Sons Construction, Ltd. Both contracts are worth $2.5 million and will include hot asphalt concrete pavement patching & crack sealing and brick pavement repair.

The next largest spending item, item 8H, is the rental and potential purchase of a Caterpillar Model 826K Compactor for the city’s landfill. The total cost, including the optional purchase of the compactor at the end of the five year lease, is for $1,544,550. If the purchase option is not exercised at the end of the rental, the overall cost will be $1,308,925.

Close in cost to the compactor rental is item 8J, a $1.5 million five-year managed print services agreement with Tascosa Office Machines. The cost for this contract will come out of the operating budgets for various services based on utilization.

The council will also consider three items to purchase equipment for the new City Hall, which is nearing completion. Item 9K is a $62,180.17 purchase of uninterrupted power supplies and distribution from CDW/G, item 8L is a $290,497.73 purchase of network switches from Sterling Computer Corporation, and item 8M is a $224,535.43 purchase of a new audio/video system for the Council Chambers in the new City Hall. According to the most recent update from the city, the new city hall is projected to be finished in November and opened in December.

Other items on the agenda include discussion of the ordinance restricting pedestrians at intersections, continued discussion of the Amarillo EDC, and nominations to fill current and upcoming vacancies on the PRAD board.

The meeting will begin at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8th and will take place on the third floor of Amarillo City Hall. The full agenda and agenda packet can be found at this link and a table summarizing the spending items can be found below.
