Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has acquired the required number of signatures to obtain ballot access in Texas, his campaign announced on Monday.
In a social media post to X, Kennedy press secretary Stefanie Spear announced that the campaign had collected the number of signatures required to place the candidate on the ballot in the November election. The campaign was required to collect more than 113,000 signatures from unaffiliated voters to gain ballot access.
“By collecting nearly a quarter of a million signatures in just two months, the campaign has shown it can overcome the most difficult ballot access requirement in the country,” Spear wrote.
The signatures collected by Kennedy’s campaign will need to be verified before his name can be placed on the ballot. Still, if Kennedy is successful in obtaining ballot access, he will be the first independent candidate to have his name placed on the Texas presidential ballot since Pat Buchanan in 2000.
