Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) is not responding to questions about whether he will accept a salary during the 2018 government shutdown.
In an article released in the Texas Tribune, reporters asked each member of the Texas delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives whether they plan to accept a salary during the ongoing federal government shutdown. Ten representatives said that they plan to donate their paycheck to charity or not accept a check during the shutdown. The remaining members, including Thornberry, did not comment on the fate of their pay during the ongoing shutdown.
Those saying they would not accept pay or would donate the check include: Jodey Arrington (R-Lubbock); John R. Carter (R-Round Rock); Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio); Jeb Hensarling (R-Dallas); Michael McCaul (R-Tomball); John Ratcliffe (R-Heath); Randy Weber (R-Friendswood); and Roger Williams (R-Austin); Roger Williams (R-Austin) and Bill Flores (R-Bryan).
