A woman has been hospitalized following a shooting that took place earlier this week.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were sent to the 1400 block of North Jefferson on the report of an aggravated assault on Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, they made contact with a 30-year-old woman who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. She told officers that the shooting took place at a home in the 1500 block of North Jefferson and she walked to home in the 1400 block of North Jefferson for assistance.
Officers went to the home where the shooting occurred and made contact with a 52-year-old male resident. The man was determined to be the suspect and was detained for investigation.
The woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man has not been arrested or place and jail, meaning that his name cannot be released. The man and woman are believed to have known each other prior to the shooting.
