A former Republican candidate for President of the United States will be in Amarillo next month for a special Christians United for Israel regional forum.
Gary Bauer, former United States Undersecretary for Education and former president of the Family Research Council, will be in Amarillo for the CUFI regional forum. Bauer will be serving as the co-keynote speaker, along with Christian author Billye Brim.
Bauer served in President Ronald Reagan's administration from 1985 through 1987. Bauer was also a Reagan advisor from 1987 through 1988. Bauer sought the Republican Party's nomination for president in 2000, receiving about 60,000 votes nationally before dropping out early in the contest to endorse Arizona Senator John McCain. Texas Governor George W. Bush would go on to win the nomination and the presidency over Vice President Al Gore.
In addition to Bauer and Brim, several other speakers will be in attendance. Attendees will hear presentations from Sandy Hagee Parker, Kasim Hafeez, and Lydia Williams. Lyndon Allen and Jeremy Pfeil are serving as hosts for the day's events.
The conference will take place at the First Assembly of God (6101 Bell Street) on Saturday, April 21st. Admission is $10, which covers both breakfast and lunch.
