A suspect in a Lubbock 7-Eleven robbery was thrown through the window of the store while demanding cigarettes, Lubbock Police Department officials say.
On Wednesday, Treshun Bates, 21, entered a 7-Eleven in Lubbock around 6pm, officials say. Bates was unable to show identification to purchase cigarettes. Bates was turned away and soon returned with another person. The second person attempted to buy cigarettes while Bates stood behind him and the clerk refused to make the transaction, citing Bates' lack of identification. Authorities say Bates then revealed a pistol tucked in his pants and said, "I can get whatever I want." The clerk then pushed Bates out of the front door of the store.
After being pushed out of the door, Bates reportedly took his gun and began hitting the clerk with it. During the incident, the clerk grabbed Bates and threw him through the front window of the 7-Eleven. The clerk then held Bates in a headlock before the suspect was able to escape.
Authorities say Bates was found at a nearby apartment complex where he told officers that he needed medical attention because he was thrown through the window of the 7-Eleven.
Bates was placed under arrest on the charge of Aggravated Robbery and is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
