Parker, Vaughan Receive Awards at WTAMU Banquet

Two West Texas A&M University athletes received awards at a banquet over the weekend.

On Sunday, WTAMU president Walter Wendler awarded the WTAMU President's Award to seniors Dillon Vaughan and Madison Parker. Vaughan is an athlete with WTAMU's football program and Parker is an athlete with the WTAMU Lady Buffs basketball program.

The award ceremony made Parker the fourth women's basketball athlete to earn the prestigious award since 2005. Parker won the award to cap an amazing year for the senior, as she prepares to move into the medical field to study to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Vaughan's award also capped a major year for the football star. Vaughan was named the Lone Star Conference Football Academic Player of the Year in 2017 and earned second team all-conference honors this season, according to WTAMU.
