A new Morning Consult poll released this week has Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn maintaining his lead in Texas.

According to the poll, Cornyn is leading Democrat MJ Hegar, an Air Force veteran and former congressional candidate, 45-39%. The poll did not include Libertarian Kerry McKennon or Green Party candidate David B. Collins. However, the poll is in line with other recent polls showing Cornyn with a lead over Hegar.

Cornyn, most recently re-elected in 2014, has never fallen below 54% of the vote in a race for the U.S. Senate. In his most recent appearance on the ballot, Cornyn defeated Democrat David Alameel, Libertarian Rebecca Paddock, and Green Emily Sanchez with nearly 62% of the vote.

Early voting begins in this race October 13. Election Day is November 3.
