Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson is filed her campaign finance report on Friday showing a sizable haul ahead of her re-election showdown this May.

According to Nelson’s finance report, the Mayor reported bringing in $61,000 during the reporting period from July through the end of the year, with multiple establishment political backers comprising her donor pool. Her top donation during the period came from Eddie and Janie Bradley in the amount of $5,000. However, Nelson’s report also included notable contributions from State Rep. Four Price (R-Amarillo) and Amarillo EDC board member Laura Street.

Nelson’s campaign also reported multiple expenditures to No Box Creative, a local advertising firm, and several banking-related entities.

Beyond Nelson, challenger Claudette Smith also filed a finance report this week. Smith’s report showed no contributions, but several expenditures to Wells Fargo for banking fees and a payment to herself for a loan repayment. Smith launched her campaign for election on Thanksgiving after unsuccessfully running for mayor two years prior.

Nelson is expected to face Smith and catering company owner Michael Hunt in her re-election campaign this May.
