U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) praised incoming House Speaker Mike Johnson in a tweet on Wednesday, saying that his election as Speaker is a win for Americans.

According to the tweet sent by Jackson, the Texas Congressman said he was excited to vote for Johnson to be the new Speaker of the House.

“VERY excited to vote for Mike Johnson on the House Floor for Speaker,” Jackson tweeted. “He is a trustworthy leader and a tough conservative! Mike becoming speaker makes this ordeal all worth it! Let’s get back to work for the American people!”

Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, was elected Speaker on Wednesday, ending a caucus debate about who the Republican nominee for Speaker should be. Johnson was the fourth Republican nominated for Speaker after Kevin McCarthy was voted out of the position earlier this month.
